About Opple

A design-led lighting practice with a specification mindset, connecting sculptural presence, material intelligence and disciplined project information.

A timeline shaped by material and light

A focused beginning

The practice began with the conviction that lighting could act as architecture at a human scale. Early work explored how reflective metal, opacity and form alter both the object and the room around it.

From object to family

Product thinking expanded toward coherent families, giving designers related pendant, floor, table and wall solutions without flattening their individual character. Documentation became more systematic as projects reached wider markets.

Closer technical coordination

Control compatibility, photometric interpretation and installation guidance became integral to conversations with specifiers. The aim was not to turn expressive light into a commodity, but to make intent repeatable on site.

Authority through clarity

Across hospitality, workplace, retail and residential amenity spaces, we help teams judge the whole proposition: atmosphere, optical behaviour, finish, electrical interface, maintenance and procurement risk.

Principles behind the work

Material is optical

Metal, glass and textured surfaces are considered as active participants in reflection, glare, shadow and colour perception.

Evidence serves intent

Photometric data informs a decision; it does not replace observation, mock-ups or the designer’s understanding of the occupied room.

Details survive handover

Useful information must remain legible to consultants, purchasing teams, installers, commissioning specialists and facilities managers.

Connected expertise

Design, technical, commercial and delivery viewpoints are brought into the same conversation. That breadth helps expose contradictions early—for example, when a desired dimming curve conflicts with a driver choice, when a ceiling build-up restricts access, or when a finish sample behaves differently under the selected CCT.
